Turner Volunteers Join Us For Renovation, Reading and Healthy Eating

On Saturday, Sept. 11 about 60 employees from Turner Broadcasting came to Brownwood Recreation Center for a fun and enriching day of volunteer service.
The Turner folks and many of their children joined the youth members of East Atlanta Kids Club in a variety of educational activities, including reading, literacy games, and creating decorative bookmarks.

Chicks for Charity event this Saturday

The Atlanta Backyard Poultry Meetup Group is handing out 1,000 baby chickens this Saturday and also collecting donations for charity. The “Chicks for Charity” event will be held at the Decatur Farmer’s Market, 498 N. McDonough Street in Decatur, on Saturday, August 28, from 9am to noon. Proceeds will benefit the East Atlanta Kids Club.

2010 Brownwood Bike Rally & Run

The East Atlanta Kids Club’s 7th- annual Brownwood Bike Rally & Run returns on Saturday, May 15 to beautiful Brownwood Park in East Atlanta, where kids and adults will participate in street bike and Cyclocross-track races, a 5K Run/Walk, and other cycling- and fitness-related activities.

Mayor-Elect Kasim Reed Attends Kids Club Holiday Luncheon!

East Atlanta Kids Club was honored to receive Mayor-Elect Kasim Reed at our annual holiday luncheon at Brownwood Recreation Center last Saturday. On Dec. 12, Mr. Reed took a tour of the center and got to know many of the youth in our after-school program, as well as their family members and volunteers who were on hand.

From Downtown Atlanta, take I-20 East to Moreland Avenue (South), exit 60A. Turn right onto Moreland Avenue. Turn left at the 2nd light, onto Glenwood Avenue. Turn right at the first street on the right, Brownwood Avenue. Go two blocks down, and turn left onto the driveway at 602 Brownwood Avenue.

From I-285
Take the 75/85 connector towards downtown. Exit onto I-20 E. Take exit 60A Moreland Ave. (south). Turn right onto Moreland, and then turn left at 2nd light, Glenwood Ave. . Go one block, and turn right onto Brownwood Avenue. Go two blocks down, and turn left onto the driveway at 602 Brownwood Avenue.

From I-75/85 N or S
Proceed on 75/85 to I-20 E. Take exit 60A Moreland Ave. (south). Turn right, and then turn left at 2nd light, Glenwood Ave. Go one block, turn right on Brownwood Ave. Go two blocks down, and turn left onto the driveway at 602 Brownwood Avenue.

MARTA Directions
Take train to Inman Park Station. Take the #34 Gresham bus to corner of Glenwood Avenue and Brownwood Avenue. Walk south on Brownwood two blocks, and turn left into the driveway at 607 Brownwood Avenue.
(During rush hour, the #34 bus leaves every 20 minutes from the Inman Park Station. On Saturday mornings, the #34 bus leaves every 50 minutes.)
